CAN DOGS EAT THESE TREATS?

Yes absolutely. Our treats are made with your dogs' well being in mind. Most commercially made pet foods and treats are packed full of preservatives, artificial colours and flavours, sugar and salt. These are all potentially harmful to your dog and are also unnecessary in an animal's daily diet.

Certain preservatives such as BHT have been shown to cause cancer, various skin problems, liver and kidney damage and increased cholesterol levels just to name a few!

Artificial colours and flavours are shown to cause numerous conditions such as hyperactivity, skin sensitivities and digestive problems.

Sugar and salt are also unnecessary additives to a dogs diet. Sugar is adding extra calories and energy to your dog's food which can lead to weight problems. Salt is just as bad for dogs as it is for humans. Excess salt causes high blood pressure, stroke and heart disease.

Our treats do not contain any of the nasty additives listed above. Our ingredients are wholesome and natural and where possible we use organic produce. We use healthy fresh fruit and vegetables to pack our treats full of natural flavour and we have perfected our secret baking methods to eliminate the need for preservatives.

CAN DOGS EAT CHOCOLATE?

No, absolutely not. Chocolate contains a chemical called theobromine, which is extremely dangerous to dogs. This chemical causes heart attack or failure if enough is ingested.

Dark chocolate is the most dangerous. The darker the chocolate the more dangerous it is. Chocolate also contains caffeine, which is unnecessary in a dog's diet and causes hyperactivity.

If your dog ingests chocolate you should always consult your veterinarian. If your dog has ingested a large enough quantity it may need to have its stomach pumped and be kept on a drip for observation.

WHAT IS CAROB AND CAN DOGS EAT IT?

Carob is the dog-friendly alternative to chocolate. It is made from the pods of a carob tree and it is 100% natural and safe for dogs to eat. It has the same sweet richness that we humans love about chocolate. It is high in vitamins B1, B2, calcium, magnesium and iron.

The carob we use in our treats and to decorate our treats with is human grade and it is the same carob that diabetic people eat because it is sugar free. We use a milk carob, dark soy carob and yoghurt to create the decorations and icings on our unique treats.

HOW MANY TREATS CAN I FEED MY DOG?

This is a hard question to answer. We think you need to remember that they are TREATS, not a MEAL that you would give to your dog in a bowl! Just as you would ration your own treats such as a biscuit with your coffee or a piece of chocolate or some cake, you need to be sensible with your dogs'treats.

We strive to make our treats as healthy and low fat as possible but you must remember the common sense approach of everything in moderation. If your dog already has a weight problem and you still want to give a treat or reward you must cut down the quantity of food you give to your dog in its daily meal.

HOW LONG DO THE TREATS LAST?

Our gourmet treat range will last eight to ten weeks and each biscuit is individually packaged in cellophane to protect the decoration and maintain freshness.

Our 100gm and 50gm packaged treats have a shelf life of approximately five to six months. Once open store in an airtight container and use within two to three weeks.
