When our beautiful Labrador x Shepherd Sandy experienced vaccinosis, a violent reaction to her yearly vaccination, her immune & digestive system was so severely damaged that she developed severe reactions to preservatives, additives, artificial colours and flavours in processed pet foods and treats. We were left with no choice but to feed her a completely natural homemade diet so we began researching and learning to make our own healthy food and treats for her. We learnt how to nutritionally balance meals and make tasty dog treats without the need for preservatives, artificial colours, flavours, sugar or salt.

At the time we also owned a very reputable and award winning grooming salon. Over the years we had also noticed an increase in a variety of disorders in dogs such as allergies, pancreatitis, dermatitis, cancer and diabetes just to name a few. Our grooming salon was a very valuable resource because we could give out sample treats to the dogs we groomed and ask the owners for feedback.

Owners would tell us which flavours their dogs liked and those dogs who were previously experiencing reactions to preservatives and additives in commercial treats were happily enjoying our premium handmade treats without the occurrence of any adverse reactions.

After a great deal of experimentation, consulting with Veterinarians, Naturopaths and Holistic Practitioners, and then perfecting our recipes, we began selling our treats from the small reception area of our grooming salon. It was not long before we realised that we needed to set up the business as a separate identity with its own branding, professional premises and shopfront with adequate baking equipment. And so.....The Woofery was born.....

Proudly established in 2002. Mandy, the owner of The Woofery has since dedicated a great deal of time to studying animal health courses and has become a certified small animal nutritionist so you can rest assured that our treats are full of nutritious, dog safe ingredients.

Every treat we make is lovingly handmade with premium human grade ingredients. All ingredients are local or Australian with the exception of the organic Canadian maple syrup. We use organic ingredients where possible. Every ingredient is cane sugar free and salt free and we do not use any artificial colours or flavours. Our slow baking methods and dehydration processes prevent the treats from spoilage without the need for preservatives. The shelf life of our treats is around 6 months and then they will gradually begin to stale just like a human biscuit but are still perfectly safe for a dog to consume.
